Explore the hidden world through art
Artist Statement
Growing up in a Jain community deeply influenced by its rich cultural traditions and philosophical principles, Vidhi Lunia Kapoor embarked on an artistic journey that explores the intricate relationship between awareness and interconnectedness with the world. Guided by the virtues of non-violence (Ahimsa), non-attachment (Aparigraha), and acceptance of different perspectives (Anekantavada), she has developed a keen awareness of the subtle intricacies of existence.
Vidhi's art reflects this introspective path, documenting a transition from cultural reflections to profound musings on consciousness and our connection with the surroundings. Through a comprehensive approach drawing on diverse cultural thought, she explores the concept of invisibility as a separation from tangible attachments and as the vast domain of the unseen—elements frequently overlooked but deeply intertwined with our existence.
Employing materials such as paper, needle, invisible ink, thread, and sand, her artistic process is meticulous, aiming to reveal hidden aspects of life and provoke contemplation. By engaging in meditative states, emotional sensitivity, and thorough investigation, Vidhi strives to authentically express the integration of inner contemplation with external expression.
Through her artwork, Vidhi Lunia Kapoor seeks to spark a deeper conversation about the unseen, awareness, and philosophical interconnectivity. Her work is not a conclusion but rather an invitation to engage in the silent dialogue that exists within the imperceptible.
